Changing Your Password

When to Change Your Password

  • Every 3-6 months for security
  • If you suspect your account was compromised
  • After using a public or shared computer
  • If you shared your password with someone
  • After a data breach at any service where you used the same password

Step 1: Log into Webmail

  1. Go to https://email.northwoodsmail.com
  2. Enter your email address and current password
  3. Click Sign In

Step 2: Access User Settings

  1. Click your email address in the top-left corner
  2. Click Settings or User Settings

Step 3: Change Password

  1. Look for the Change Password button
  2. Click Change Password
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Enter your new password
  5. Re-enter your new password to confirm
  6. Click Save

Creating a Strong Password

Your password should:

  • Be at least 12 characters long (longer is better)
  • Include uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Include numbers
  • Include special characters (!, @, #, $, etc.)
  • NOT be a dictionary word
  • NOT include your name or email address
  • Be unique – never reuse passwords across different sites

Good password examples:

  • Morn!ng
  • Blue#Sky89Rainbow!
  • T1ger!321
  • Purple-Elephant-Dance-92! (passphrase style)

After Changing Your Password

Important: You’ll need to update your password on all devices where you access email:

If you can’t remember your current password:

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click Forgot Password?
  3. Follow the instructions to reset your password
  4. Or contact our support team for assistance
