Android Email Setup

Settings will be customized for this domain

Set up your NorthwoodsMail email account on your Android phone or tablet.

Before You Begin

You’ll need:

  • Your full email address
  • Your email password
  • An internet connection

Method 1: Gmail App (Recommended)

Step 1: Open Gmail App

  1. Open the Gmail app
  2. Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top left
  3. Scroll down and tap Settings
  4. Tap Add account

Step 2: Choose Account Type

  1. Select Other
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Tap Next

Step 3: Select Personal (IMAP)

  1. Choose Personal (IMAP)
  2. Enter your password
  3. Tap Next

Step 4: Enter Server Settings

Incoming Server Settings:

  • Server: email.northwoodsmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address

Tap Next

Outgoing Server Settings:

  • Server: email.northwoodsmail.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security type: STARTTLS
  • Require sign-in: Check this box
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your password

Tap Next

Step 5: Choose Options

  • Choose how often to sync
  • Enable notifications if desired
  • Tap Next

Step 6: Name Your Account

  • Give your account a name (e.g., “NorthwoodsMail”)
  • Confirm your display name
  • Tap Next

Method 2: Native Email App

If your Android device has a built-in Email app:

  1. Open the Email app
  2. Tap Add Account
  3. Enter your email address and password
  4. Choose IMAP account
  5. Use the same server settings as above

Troubleshooting

Can’t connect to server:

  • Double-check server name is email.northwoodsmail.com
  • Verify your username is your FULL email address
  • Make sure you’re connected to the internet

Authentication failed:

  • Verify your password is correct
  • Try resetting your password in webmail
